I have Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS and after upgrade to latest kernel, I got same
errors as @Victor. It started by Firefox random crashes. And then my
development IDE followed these crashes. And finally I was not able to
restart my computer. It was staying in black screen.

After doing a diagnostic check on bios, I saw that my RAM is controls
are failing. I bought a new RAM and continue my life now. But still
getting black screen on restart.

Sorry, no evidence. Maybe its coincidence. But though worth to sharing.

Title:
Problem restarting with new Kernel 5.8.0-36

Status in evince package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
I have installed the last Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS update and It installed
the new kernel 5.8.0-36. I have got some problems with this kernel.

For example, when I reboot my PC, sometimes it doesn't start and stay
in the msdos window that you watch at the beginning when you switch on
the PC (It's the window that shows your motherboard, disk ready, etc).

Another problems is that when I use Mozilla Firefox 84.0.2 64 bits, I
have got some crashes randomly when I open a new tab (the crash is
only in the new tab, not in all Firefox program).

  Please fix this kernel.

  Thank you.
