It's not a crash or a hang. It locks in terms of the screen being blank

I was not able to upgrade BIOS FA to FB because FB has the wrong Id.
This is due to the motherboard being Rev 2.0 (checked by looking at
motherboard). In other words, the PC seller forced in the wrong BIOS -

I noticed that there was a preconfigured rule for bonjour in GUFW. So I
requested it (it then allowed 5353udp & 5298all, on In) & I was able to
add a printer & use it. Interestingly, my desktop does not have these
'allowed' but printing is still OK. Anyway, I've added this
preconfigured rule to my
I use the same GUFW firewall on both computers. Both use the Home
profile allowing any thing out & certain apps in (e.g. CUPS, Samba,
SSH). Do Bonjour/DNS-SD broadcasts use a specific port?

Just done the same on my desktop (connected by ethernet whereas laptop
is connected by wireless). That showed the printer under 'Web Site' sub-
section & printer is able to print from it. Both computers run 64 bit
Trusty.

Printer did not appear in window's list. Only 'device' in nested list
was my laptop, which was only computer switched on.
PS running avahi-discover required installation of it which also caused
installation of python-avahi.

however since about a week ago, printing fails i.e. nothing happens.
Deleting the printer & trying to Add it again results in the printer no
longer being shown in the Add Printer dialog. Ping 192.168.101.20 i

This is still happening in Trusty, with Thunderbird 24.6.0. I do not
understand the delay in fixing it as the bug's importance is High. Alos,
I am not able to do the workaround (as specified in the previous post)
as the Location (in Properties) of my Deleted local folder (I do not
have a Trash loca

In Firefox, clicking a link to a pdf file does not cause evince to start up &
display the file's contents. A new tab opens but the Firefox home page is
displayed. This used to wotk in Precise.
PS I've tried installing mozplugger but it made no difference.

I found the solution in 'Ask Ubuntu'. sshfs package is not automatically
installed on a clean Trusty install. It should be automatically
installed. 'sudo apt-get install sshfs' & restart allows (e.g.
ssh://192.168.1.4) entry into Server Address box of 'Connect to Server'
dialog.
