black window decorations. I also started having windows open up with
completely blank (black) contents. Often closing and reopening would
fix it.
Downgrading back to 295.40-0ubuntu1 has completely fixed
the update in the proposed repo fixed the problem for me too. Thanks!

1350dn. The workaround found in the end was to plug it in via ethernet

I have been plagued by this problem for at least a year. It was a
motivating factor in upgrading my system from 11.04 to 12.04, and to my
dismay, the install of 12.04 worked properly for a while... then went
back to opening Excel files in gedit.

If you were fed up with updates etc. overwriting the file, you could
always add a script that overwrote the file on each boot - adding this
to /etc/rc.local would do it (before 'return 0':

Isak - that is really only a workaround, since gvfs really should be
loaded before thunar starts, and not called after. XFCE is written
entirely in C, and unfortunately I am not yet skilled enough in the
language to be able to fix things. Perhaps it would be wiser to ship a
modified network.mount f

Screen partially darkened after suspend and resume in
Confirmed on Xubuntu, after latest kernel update.
Resume from suspend leaves the brigthness reduced.
Mouse cursor remains bright.
Log-out/in restores brightness.

Found a workaround for this bug when using gradients, that you have to
apply to each fontwork object in turn:
[1] Make a fontwork object and set fill to gradient
[2] On the object:
Right-click>Area...>Area>Untick 'Automatic' under 'Increments.
