I don't understand why this was marked invalid Martin. You're just
confirming why the bug exists.

fails to start
Public bug reported:
I am seeing this bug where right click dialogs, menus, notifications etc
are popping up behind other windows. See the screenshot as an example.
It mostly doesn't happen until I start Amarok, which is a QT app, but
that doesn't always make it happen either.

FWIW I don't think this is an alsa bug. Everything works flawlessly if I load
module-alsa-source in PA and use the devices from that instead.

@Julian, I'm not sure which (GUI?) application you're talking about when
you say disappeared from the mixer. However, there is indeed a problem
at ALSA/kernel level with the mixer of the playstation eye, as you can
see if you try to run amixer
I can confirm that it's *not* fixed, I still don't see pulse loading the
drivers. I have to get it working via the alsa emulation layer.

[USB-Audio - USB Camera-B4.04.27.1, recording] Pulseaudio fails to

I can verify that all the above are correct and I am using 12.10. I've
attached the log as requested.
When starting up the daemon with debugging, all of my sound devices
disappeared from the mixer and didn't come back at all. I managed to
make the playstation eye device appear in the sound

That seemed a bit surprising to me since Fedora until rather recently
started at 500 but Ubuntu has started at 1000 for a long time.
I migrated a load of very old (10 years) users from a Red Hat

My scenario is thus:
1. Boot to gdm.
2. For some reason my user is not on the screen already so I click not listed
3. The user input field appears, and I type my user id and press Enter
4. The password field appears in place of the user field.
5. Wait a second or two and

I configured my desktop to have a static IP address on my network and I
don't let network manager manage the connection. This makes SC seem to

In my case, no, I only have one static interface. I have uninstalled NM
and I'm happy again. However, something regressed since natty since the
config in my comment #2 used to set resolv.conf for me.

I don't know if I had resolvconf installed before the upgrade, sorry. I
know that it was not installed *after* though, as I installed it to try
it out on oneiric. It didn't work!

I have a static eth0 (ie not managed by network manager). I upgraded
from natty to oneiric and it wiped the resolv.conf file (but only on the
second boot, bizarrely) leaving it looking like this:
