My media keys were already set to default, so the solution from comment
#4 didn't work for me. What salved the problem for me was adding the
official gnome3 ppa and upgrading gnome:
~$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gnome3-team/gnome3
~$ sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
After reboot
I don't know if this could be of any help, but after this crash all
keyboard shortcuts stopped working, even Ctrl+Alt+T for terminal.
