Title:
[Dell Inspiron 1720] System does not power off reliably when Shut
Down
Dell Inspiron 1520 and Ubuntu 12.04. Upgraded from previous LTS where it worked.
Shutdown isn't working. Nvidia here, I will not remove it as I don't believe
there is a relationship - it may only be a workaround.
I intend to stay on this LTS. I refuse to change any BIOS settings as it worked
I confirm.
100% CPU by Xorg, sometimes segfaults (it restarts Xorg).
I'm using binary nvidia drivers, not nouveau
I did a previous-LTS to current-LTS upgrade. Prior to that it worked.

After the below example, it's dead. It always concerns IRQ's.
name [ 1377.796013] NVRM: GPU at :01:00.0 has fallen off the bus.
name [ 1377.796088] NVRM: GPU at :01:00.0 has fallen off the bus.
name [ 1377.796013] NVRM: os_pci_init_handle: invalid context!
name last message repeated
I will add: not always it seems to be caused by nvidia. But always
concerns irq's. Most certainly a flawed driver.
