Thanks, Sebastien. In the end, I waited until the next update. I am happy to say that, as of language-pack-gnome-nl version 1:20.04+20200416, the fix seems to have made its way into Ubuntu 20.04! I haven't checked 19.10 and 18.04. As far as I remember, this issue also affected 18.04, but this has

If the instructions are too difficult for you, you really should ask yourself whether you want take the (quite substantial) risk of modifying core packages of your installation. If you make an error, you risk making your installation unusable. Also, setting up a PPA isn't really worth the effort:
