As per #42, I did: removed telepathy-butterfly and associated telepathy-gnome and telepathy-core with synaptic suppressed MSN account re-created it the same and it connected -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to telepathy-butterfly in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/513346 Title: MSN connection does not work: Network error Status in telepathy-butterfly: New Status in “telepathy-butterfly” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Binary package hint: empathy Using MSN with empathy is almost impossible since most of the time it reports "Network error". Please note, that I have no problem with other IM clients using the same user. Also, there can't be major network problem: I am using 1Gbit LAN connection to the ISP's backbone network, also as I've mentioned, no problem with other clients. Also it's a bit misleading to show "edit contact" window, since user can't edit any setting which can solve this problem, I think :) It's up-to- date ubuntu karmic running on 32 bit x86 platform.
