For me I'm on 14.10 and it only happens when I try to compile and install
my own kernel... I know the same problem exist on 14.04 because I had the
same problem before I updated to 14.10. This bug is not developer friendly
at all as many developers need to compile their own kernels for various

Mine seems to be fixed but I had to do the following in order to force
the update of the fix because it wouldn't show as in my update manager.
sudo ldconfig
sudo apt-get check
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade --fix-missing

Mine is random also. It happened more on precise but it just started popping
up again and I had hoped it was fixed. Looks like it's back again. Does not
happen specifically when I log-in or out. I don't get the same message as
above even though it's reported as a dup and I do notice there
