I have exactly the same problem - and the same solution: use Chrome instead of Firefox!

Pasted it from gedit/geany (the result is the same) into a firefox textarea (in my case the textarea was at http://pinyintools.zedwood.com/tojavascript ). When you push submit you can see the lines are delimited with \r\n\r\n (crlfcrlf instead of crlf). To confirm it wasn't the server that was doing anything funny I used the firefox tamperdata plug-in and captured the outgoing HTTP POST and looked at it, and it definitely had crlfcrlf.
