The error message is totally normal and expected if there is no driver.
It's a bit confusing because libvdpau defaults to the NVIDIA driver,
regardless of the GPU vendor or lack thereof. But either way, there are

libvdpau takes the VDPAU driver "vendor" name from the DRI2 extension.
If you have Intel HD Graphics, that will be i965. The error is printed
by libvdpau.
The problem lies between libvdpau, and the VDPAU driver or lack thereof.
vdpauinfo, mplayer, mpv and VLC can do nothing about it. In my opinion
"[7f909958] vdpau_avcodec generic error: decoder profile not
supported: 6" means that:
1) your libavcodec installation does support VDPAU properly, and
2 ) your VDPAU driver does not support H.264 decoding at all (or reports
incorrect capabilities).

This is not a Samba share. This is a userspace filesystem that is
insanely slow at listing directory content. In other words, this is a
performance problem inside GVFS.
You should rather avoid GVFS. Either mount the SMB filesystem natively
(with kernel CIFS support), or supply VLC with the origina
libavcodec is sometimes returning an invalid picture. This seems to only
occur with multithreaded decoding and with libav release 9 (no such
problem with libav release 8 or 10).
As far as I can tell, this regression is caused by the introduction of
libav 9 in Ubuntu.

It's all very confusing with many people experiencing similar symptoms.
But the original logs look like a simple case of PulseAudio selecting a
far too short latency:

D: alsa-sink.c: Cutting sleep time for the initial
PulseAudio definitely allows the playback application to query latency
(see pa_stream_get_latency() and pa_stream_get_time()), and AFAIK, it
has always done so.
