This could very well be an issue with the amdgpu kernel module or the
kernel itself. 20.04 uses kernel 5.4 I fixed my situation (similar) by
upgrading to 20.10 (beta) which uses 5.8 packages. Now, my power
management and suspend/resume actually work.

Now using Firefox 49.0.2 and Thunderbird 1:45.4.0 in Ubuntu Mate 16.04.
Thunderbird does not crash at all any more. Firefox crashes at idle 2-3

list. That is how I was able to install the 14.04 lsb etc. when they

You want me to upgrade from 14.04.04 to 16.04? That I cannot do at the
moment because I am in the middle of a development project that needs a
stable Intel/AMD workstation which has lsb packages. Using the lsb API
was not my idea (long story) and I warned my partner that lsb would be
gone in Ubun

Whenever the trusty cups-daemon package is upgraded, I can see a few
warning lines about "rules not enforced". This does not appear to
impact the cups operations.
Note that this does not occur in saucy where the cups-daemon version
currently is 1.7.0~rc1-0ubuntu5.1.

In spite of the documented work-around in the bug description, it no
longer works in Saucy (13.10) Xubuntu - maybe other distros too. Every
time I click on a link in Thunderbird, it triggers the "Choose Preferred
Application" pop-up. I have to select "Chromium" and then I can be on
my way. This
Changed from exo to chromium-browser because it seems to be a better
starting point for resolving this issue.

Effective work-around:
* Keep the fictitious "Laptop" monitor.
* On the desktop, right click and select Desktop Settings
* Pick a background
* Select "Stretch this background across all monitors."
For me, I achieved the effect that I wanted without actuallydisabling
the 2nd monitor (Laptop).

It seems to me that choosing "lightdm" is more accurate for a starting
point based on the lightdm log.
