'xset dpms force off' blanks the screen but does not switch off the HDMI
(LCD) monitor backlight.
'xset -q' shows DPMS is enabled.
'tvservice -o' does switch off the monitor.
No warnings/errors related to dpms in /var/log/XOrg.0.log

After logging into PC today and running the software updater, various

Just tried the package downgrade (apt-get install ubuntu-drivers-
common=1:0.2.91.4) and a couple of reboots but the problem is still
there.

I don't know if the bug I reported 1373968 , is the same as 1365695 or not,
