Also after a dist-upgrade from 16.04 to 18.04:
moved all entries in /var/lib/locales/supported.d to dot-files:

nvidia-319-updates will install nvidia-331.38 which has
!NO SUPPORT FOR Geforce8x00 ANYMORE!
So please switch back to nvidia-319 wich is the latest module supporting
Geforce 8x00 Cards.
