I don't think I changed the 'Force window on top' setting before I used
onboard for the first time, but I can't be sure. Maybe there should be a
warning pop-up when disabling this option? I guess if there's no other
solution with the way Dash works then there's nothing to do.

gnome-shell uses idle monitor directly (as does unity-settings-daemon)
if we revert the code in gnome-desktop we are going to have two
independent idle monitors running, the one used via gnome-desktop plus
the directly accessed one.
Alternatively if unity-settings-daemon exposes the d-bus
I thought it already did, but looking at the code it seems it doesn't.
There is code there to fix up the default when the default printer is
renamed, but not to set it when there is none set and the first queue is
created.

1372346), sets NoDisplay=True in all the panel desktop files, so this
patch should not be required.

i can still reproduce the bug in 14.04 with onboard 1.0.0. Unless i have
'force window to top' enabled in preferences opening the dash steals
focus from onboard and therefore makes it impossible to type in the dash
withput using the physical keyboard.

As Laney mentoned Shipping upower 0.99 only for GNOME would be a lot of
work. I have however managed to untangle the gnome-desktop transition
from upower, so we can now land that without upower 0.99, in which case

As mentioned on irc, gnome-session update was blocked due to 3.9.90 crashing
when running under gnome-desktop 3.8.
gnome-panel provides its own dialogs, however seems they are only used when
clicking through the system menu. I can revert the dialogs for now, but would

There is one bug however, that seems to be a gtk theming issue that only
affects adwaita (Ubuntu GNOME default theme)
in empathy-accounts, when adding a new account, the username field is
not displaying
