gnome-chess fails to start as well, but it's crashing also on newer gen
chips (tested on Alder Lake) with the iris driver. What's common is that
it is also fine on wayland.
upstream had a look at the backtrace, but said that there's nothing that
would explain why it fails on xorg

I can reproduce on intel haswell, with the gallium based 'crocus'
driver, but not when the app is run like:
MESA_LOADER_DRIVER_OVERRIDE=i965 gnome-extensions-app
though 'libgl1-amber-dri' needs to be installed first, it ships classic
dri drivers now
