I am using Selenium webdriver to open a drop down menu in Firefox.
When I manually open the drop down menu the bug does not appear. Because
the drop down menu is being closed when I switch between workspaces.
But when I switch to another workspace when the drop down menu is

I specifically re-installed Ubuntu (I was on 22.04 LTS) because of the

Well, I was unable to spend much time in Gnome to reproduce the effect or
refute it.
OTOH it wasn't reproduced since this ticket start on host 1 and became much
less frequent on host 2, after I switched drivers on it nvidia->nouveau and
back.

Same bug here on a 16.04, agw3's workaround doesn't fix the issue for me.
It occurs when my browser (firefox 53.0.2 64b) display a google research with
google translate content.
The way I fix it is:
pulseaudio -k && sudo alsa force-reload
It's a bit annoying, I would like to fix it permanently.

While the freeze with the "[drm] HPD interrupt..." message happened 4
times yesterday afternoon after installing the 4.2 kernel, this morning
(early morning) I reverted to 3.19 kernel and no freezes happened

The value of GTK_IM_MODULE is ``xim``. Had to launch inkscape with:
unset GTK_IM_MODULE inkscape to use it properly.
This bug is extremely old and even if it seems related to other packages
The cp command use umask permission by default, it seem logic that nautilus do
the same thing. cp don't preserve chmod and chown by default.
This fake bug can be resolved by adding a new feature that purpose to preserve
permissions, or by choosing new permissions on a Window before copy.
Example
I'm affected too on Ubuntu 14.04, in fact the keyboard is correctly
configured on Azerty (fr) on lightdm, but it switch to Qwerty (en)
when the desktop (Unity) starts. I have only the Fr as possible input
mapping in the config panel. I must select the Fr icon in the top bar
and click on French

As mentioned by Jeremy, removing the -t argument will fix this behavior. To
work around this issue I have unchecked the Disable while typing checkbox and
have added the following command to ~/.xprofile:
syndaemon -i 0.5 -K -R -d
I would love to see this fixed as this seems like a very easy fix.
This type of bug, like sometimes bug with control panel (incomplete, or
bugged), or unable to do something without searching a command line on the web
to solve a innexistant function in GUI, or a bug, is typicaly what it's a
problem with beginner, or person who search to have a easy computer
