I had this bug after having upgraded precise from a recovery mode boot (from
grub).
I guess that this is such a case where dbus is not running.

I miss something here.
The claimed version of jockey-common in this bug report is 0.9.4-0ubuntu3.
At the same time, the backtrace reveals that line 668 of
/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/jockey/backend.py is
self.main_loop = GLib.MainLoop()
while it has become in 0.9.4-0ubuntu3:
As a temporary workaround is to use the --no-dbus option.
gksu jockey-gtk --no-dbus
works here.

it looks like you have tried to run jockey as a normal user.
I had to use gksu like I have written, in order for jockey-gtk to work (once).
That said, the second time I tried to run jockey (after having installed a
restricted driver), it didn't work.
