Still a problem in 20.04.
The people with the power to change this never experience the pain of
it. Too many Devs don't use power management themselves, they have
desktop machines and leave them running 24/7.
I wish leadership would drive another 100 papercuts project.

Public bug reported:
Nautilus is set to show thumbnails in all locations. When viewing a NAS
share, it will not display thumbnails for a NFS mount. Just generic
image icon is displayed for both jpg and movies.
If I view the same folder in Nautilus via samba, the thumbnails will
generate and
If enough people ask for it perhaps they will re-instate it.
I find a max recents of 30 to be incredibly powerful in my work. Not
every gedit user is a programmer or sysadmin.

[needs-packaging] package filemanager-actions
XFCE 18.04, nautilus was working fine. Started to see this behaviour
recently. Possibly due to adding nautilus-extension-gnome-terminal.
Commenting out the line:
x-scheme-handler/file=exo-file-manager.desktop
in
/usr/share/xubuntu/applications/defaults.list (provided by Xubuntu)
Worked
Brand new 18.04.1 build and I'm seeing this behaviour. It would be
preferable to have a gui power control which allows the user to override
inhibit behaviour on a system-wide basis.

The devices in question are car audio players with MP3 playback via USB.
Both OEM (e.g. Volvo, Nissan, Mercedes etc etc) and aftermarket (e.g.
Pioneer, Alpine etc). They are working as designed. The same data
transferred to the same USB from a windows PC behaves as expected.

When using nautilus to copy files to a FAT32 USB, files are stored using the
original directory order.
When read by a primitive device which does no software sorting, files are
presented in non-alphanumeric order.
E.g. When copying a list of mp3 files to a USB flash drive
