I watched an HTML5 video when the desktop environment froze and
prevented any further input. The screen froze although the sound was
still being played. I noticed the laptop's fan turning on for a minutes
or so.
Only a reboot with the Magic SysRq Keys helped.

Thanks for reminding me about the hidden settings. For future reference:
`org.gnome.Terminal.Legacy.Settings.tab-policy`
I set it to 'always' back in the days and reverting to the default
achieves what I was looking for.

tabs and attach them to other GNOME-Terminal windows. This was

reorder tabs inside one window but not to move them to a separate one,

only displayed when there are more than one tab. I experience that the
tab bar is displayed no matter how many tabs are open and it's thus not
possible for me to have a true fullscreen experience.

Well, having a 'org.gnome.Terminal.Legacy.Settings.tab-policy' set to
'always' is no remedy to the problem on current gnome versions because a
tab cannot be dragged outside the tab bar anymore.
