That applet was working well until the latest yaru upgrade.
From a terminal i get:

Can confirm that issue here with a Mate Mantic session (default ubuntu config)
The first game run works as expected; if we run a second game, the mouse click
works, then the others cant be done. Closing mahjongg and restarted it does not
help. The whole session has to be closed and reopened to

When i made the same dist-upgrade, Ubuntu was moving from pulseaudio to
pipewire. The result was: no sound hardware detected.
