Same problem here. Laptop freezes randomly when using the Nvidia card as
primary. Problem can be rectified by Ctrl+Alt+F1 and Ctrl+Alt+F7 combo.
But it's so annoying since this process takes about a minute for the
display o come back. I have switched to the Inbuilt Intel graphics due
to this issue.

aticonfig says no supported device detected.
lspci -v gives:

hi Ramond,
I am attaching the copy of the alsa report when i restarted the system and
ran it.
however it does not give an output when the system comes from
hibernation/sleep and shows the reported bug about null sound output.

PS: I could replicate the problem by doing this.
mute the sound and put the laptop the sleep?hibernate and upon wakeup, the
output is permanantly muted untill a system restart.

sound driver crashes upon hibernation/sleep mode, logging out does not work.
Only restarting the system helps.
Once its working there is no issue with either the internal speakers or HDMI
output.

Problem started after music library from a NTFS mount was added, the software
became non-responsive and thus had to be killed.
Since then the banshee player does not lauch, so using Rhythmbox instead, but
that gives issues too.
