I found out that you may install debug symbols from this package (there's a
direct link on the page):

It is in *.ddeb format, maybe that's why not visible by apt.

try this:
sudo dpkg -r gtk2-engines-pixbuf
If this package is required by oxygen-molecule (as in my situation), remove it
if it's unnecessary:
sudo apt-get remove oxygen-molecule
And then remove gtk2-engines-pixbuf

as far as I remember, the bug appears not with VLC only (now I'm unable to
check it, but later I'll make similar log without vlc).
Amarok also stops sounding after pausing it and trying to play music
some time later.
