It's not only Software Updated. Unity on fresh 15.04 (amd64) doesn't see Oracle
Fusion Middleware JDeveloper installer (java app) running. If you minimize all
windows it's gone. Can be found with

Here's another symptom, though it may well be unrelated. This bug
affects my work computer, on which I have ubuntu 14.04 LTS, 64-bit. On
that computer, when I use the workaround, i.e., quit software updater
and start it, a window appears for it and I can use it to update. But
the window can't be re
The command below reserrects the hidden "Software Updater" window when
issued. It does not fix the underlying coding issues however it makes it
possibly to continue the update process without killing/quitting -
restarting the app.

updates became available), can keep it for while in case further testing
needed.
The session was locked (login screen) when "update-manager" was spawned.

Sorry, I don't want to sound rude. I would really apprechiate if you are
really able to change the situation and I am just curious if you are.
Also, I am a disillusioned concerning the probability that canonical
will finally do something a.bout it. I rather expect it to be fixed once
the new unity
And what do you want to do about it? Unless you are the assigned
developer for this I don't see how you can change the problem apart from
reporting information like everybody else
