We will look into this. Meanwhile Does it happen on hplip installed from
the run file on hp site too. Or the problem is persistent only with
distro customized hplip-gui/hplip-data packages.

I just experiened this bug on Trusty 32-bit (latest updates as of
2014-03-15) after doing a software update. I have no 3rd party repos or
packages installed.
I am using VMware Workstation 10.0.1 with VMware's printer sharing
enabled. I have printers shared, but none of them are HP printers.
