Mine seems to be fixed but I had to do the following in order to force
the update of the fix because it wouldn't show as in my update manager.
sudo ldconfig
sudo apt-get check
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade --fix-missing

fb inside empathy.

I think the lack of connection is actually another bug; Bilal just
reported bug 1061824 to track that issue. The crash related in this bug
isn't happening here anymore.
