may have been fixed
I notice the same problem since I installed Ubuntu 12.10.
Sometimes the empathy connect to gtalk and facebook.
In addition, the GMailWatch shares the same problems.
These problems happen at my work but at home don't.
Maybe these problems can be caused by a network configuration but I dont know.

Internal Error when trying to connect
fresh ubuntu 12.10 coming from Mint empathy wont connect to gtalk, IRC
or anything , it tires for a second than says no reason given and
internal error

I am having the same issue after fresh install (of Ubuntu 12.10). I
receive that internal error not only when trying to connect to google
account, but aslo to facebook chat.
