Public bug reported: I have set the gtk-key-theme setting to use Emacs-style key bindings using the following method:
gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface gtk-key-theme "Emacs" (The setting is also visible through dconf-editor.) Some applications respect the setting (eg Firefox), but others do not. For example, the Nautilus location text entry (opened via Ctl-L) does not and Nautilus file-renamer text entry (select icon, hit F2) does not. For a specific instance of the problem, open a Nautilus window, press Ctl-L show the location text entry, type "abc" (overwriting the selected contents of the text entry), then press Ctl-A. With gtk-key-theme=Emacs, the correct behavior would be to place the cursor at the start of the text entry, before the "a". The current behavior in Nautilus is to select the entire contents of the text entry.
