I think my problem is related to Kubuntu 15.10 64bit. I have installed
Kubuntu 15.10 32bit in another partition and midi works very well.
The problem would appear to be a 64bit incompatibility somewhere.

Thanks for your reply, ZEROtech. I did go to alsamixer, and enabled the
"tone" (it was disabled before), but still no sound. I tried enabling
and disabling various other options but still, no sound. Can I take a
screenshot of something to help?

Did you try changing settings from alsamixer in terminal?
I selected audigy from the sound settings then whent into alsamixer and changed
the tone to on and after that you have to change the audio level for pcm that
your using and master.
I don't know where you can select your primary sound card
