After upgrading to 14.04, I also started experiencing this problem (no way to
grant authorization). It worked fine before that, on 13.10.
Maybe this should be reported against the online-accounts package?

I only have one per account I want to use (3 total accounts).
I would do this, but right now Online Accounts refuses to load up and
dumps its core, which puts me in a worse position than I'm already in.

Try going to Google Account settings
(https://accounts.google.com/b/0/IssuedAuthSubTokens) and revoking the access
for any Ubuntu thing (I had 3 similar: twice Ubuntu and one Ubuntu desktop).
After reboot grant access to Google account via Online Accounts.
This worked for me.
