I had a similar problem (clipping sound in 13.04, but not in 12.04) and
I upgraded the drivers from nouveau to the nvidia drivers (from
additional drivers)

I have a similar problem, but not with HDMI. The bug I submitted may be
a duplicate, but I don't think so:
