Thanks for the testing result, there is a known deadlock in the upstream
kernel that I guess I should be fixing... As the default is for fbc=0 on
released kernels, enabling it is at your own risk - ergo not a bug in
Ubuntu per se.

Try without i915.i915_enable_fbc=1 as it is disabled due to it being
buggy and can potentially deadlock the system... Which sounds like it
should explain your hang.
