Public bug reported:

instead of showing the name of connection (Romtelecom) , it shows "not enabled, 
label empty, EVDO," and when i try to connect or disconnect, applet just 
disappears. it reappears if i logout and log back in.
when first plug in the modem, the name is shown right. the problem appears 
while it is connected.
it seems like an utf-8 error.

on wireless or wired it does not happen.
