I'm also experiencing this bug. But in my case, my mouse is returns
after 3 minutes on the first 1-2 reboots. On the 3rd reboot, my mouse is
completely back.
Using Ubuntu 64-bit and recently updated to NVIDIA 375.20 proprietary
driver. Using linux kernal 4.4.0.53

Hi, I hope this isn't too late but I had the same problem. It was a
wired mouse with the circle green plug end. I disconnected that one and
plugged in a USB mouse and the pointer showed up and has been working
fine.

things (mouse cursor, X11 etc.) started to happen after nvidia-*
packages upgrade, I've decided to choose nvidia-304.
