  I have an external monitor attached on the display port of my laptop ( HDMI 
is not  possible since optimus drivers are not complete) and randomly the 
monitor freezes. I can move the mouse but I cannot click on anything and the 
keyboard does not respond either.
  This effect lasts for a few seconds will background music to continue playing 
and then returns to normal. When returning to normal operation I get a report 
of an apport-gpu-error-intel.py.
  In the kern.log there is now a line
  [drm:i915_hangcheck_hung] *ERROR* Hangcheck timer elapsed... GPU hung
