Also note: 1920x1080 wallpaper will get stretched on higher-res devices
like the Nexus 10 (2560x1600). If you fix that, then single-pixel
graininess is probably OK when the image resolution is at least that of
the device.

Those images are still grainy and don't resolve this bug. You could
probably apply a blur to resolve that...

In the past, my complaints about the poor quality of Ubuntu wallpapers
were ignored. The main reason given at the time was that we had to
dither them all to make them look right on low-quality 18-bit LCD
panels.
This is obviously no longer true. Most wallpapers now are not dithered
(since saucy).
I think the image I'm referring to is: /usr/share/backgrounds/warty-
final-ubuntu.png
