Exactly the same on a brand new HP XP-410 under 13.10
Installation appeared to be working, although slow. The status reached
50% and stalled. Tried again, and got to around 1%.

Had the same probem trying to install a Canno MP-510. Just hangs... Let
me know when a fix is ready. Thanks to all.

I have the same problem with my Canon Pixma MP450 and Ubuntu 13.10 !
System-config-printer try to install gutenprint, but is gutenprint
already installed ?!!! (it's one of the default packages)
And it sits
