Public bug reported:

I just installed Ubuntu 12.04 LTS approaching LINUX for the first time.
Everything went okay, I was impressed (network and internet connection auto
configure, video board and screen perfectly detected), but sound there is no
way I can hear anything.
I tried to download drivers from Realteck (LinuxPkg_5.18.tar.bz2), tried to
follow the install instructions (I am new to Ubuntu), but actually got thing
worse. Worse beacause I had a webcam with microphone correctly configured and
now they do not exist anymore on the system.

If you have any hint, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you,
