Hi,
I have the same problem on the screen of a Sony Vaio Pro (Intel i5
U4200), with Ubuntu Gnome 14.04.
I see vertical flickering lines when reproducing full-screen hi resolution
videos (I have tried with SMPlayer and VLC, exact same issue).

unfortunately i cannot reproduce either. When I plugin my second screen
(the big one) lightdm now completely freezes. Sam behaiour when it is
plugged in before booting the machine.

Now look at this.
VLC in fullscreen. Suddenly there is a column on the right that has
frozen. The line is at the same position so these issues could be
related.
(And yeah XMIr is now completely unuseable for me in trusty)

I've just tested VLC under XMir with two monitors and can't reproduce
the bug yet. Could you please:
1. Update to the latest packages and retest. If the bug persists then;
2. Paste the output of the xrandr command while the bug is occurring, so we
can be sure which display config has
