This seems to happen with every version of Ubuntu.

I think now I know why there are so many bug reports. Ubuntu (even
Unified) uses a version that is roughly 4 years old!

I'll look around, maybe I can find a PPA to get rid
Didn't generate anything at all here.
I've tried to follow https://launchpad.net/+help-registry/openpgp-
keys.html exactly as written, but it does not work.
-Step 2 Select File > New, select PGP Key and then follow the on-screen
instructions.
-Now you'll see your new key listed in the Passwords
