I installed Kubuntu 13.10 64bit just yesterday. I have a Dell Inspiron
15R with switchable graphics (AMD Radeon HD 7700M Series ). After
running all post-installation software updates, I installed the graphics
drivers using your howto:
sudo apt-get install fglrx fglrx-pxpress
Everything went fine, then I hit the Catalyst Control Center to turn off
the discrete GPU and switch to integrated intel card.
>From that point, whenever I boot the system, I get a 22-second lock-up,
accompanied by this dmesg output:
