Public bug reported: Unable to find a way to permenately turn off synaptics touchpad I've learned to open a terminal upon logon and issue the command
xinput set-prop 00 "Device Enabled" 0 When the computer drops into sleep mode, and upon returning the settings are lost and must be re-entered upon every logon. The prefered way for me would to be turn off the touchpad entirely before any ttys are available and/or logon prompt. Unfortunately it does not appear Ubuntu honors the common startup directories or init scripts any longer and the documentation I've read does not appeart to provide an answer.
