Yeah especially when developers done want to fix issues. I have recommended
a lot of people go to mint. It's stabler and dev's actually care about the
users. Hopefully, the comments/tone Stephen Webb used aren't reflective of
the whole attitude of the Ubuntu dev's. I have to believe they understand
This one hurt. I'm installing for a new, curious about linux user and
the live USB was fine. Installation crashed and I find no fixes after
two days of searching. We'll go with Mint Rosa which installed just
fine. This may be the last of Ubu for me.

I have the same problem also. I have tried on both ubuntu 15.10 and
ubuntu 16.04 with no luck.

Upstart is not deprecated and is still in use as the session manager in
Ubuntu even with systemd in use as the init manager. Systemd does not
offer equivalent functionality and there are not plands to add them..
If you remove critical desktop components, you break your system and it
is not a bug.
