Thanks for that information Richard.
Is anyone else still seeing a problem on Ubuntu 16.04 with the current
versions of Firefox and Thunderbird which are 63.0.3 and 60.2.1
respectively?

I upgraded for different reasons to Xubuntu 17.10. These symptoms are
gone in 17.10, at least, for me (author of this bug report).

Hi,
I've got *Ubuntu 16.04 L.T.S. installed on about 5 computers, only one
has this above crashing.
Desktop configuration (where Mozilla Firefox/Thunderbird keeps crashing):
- 750watt modular power supply
- ASUS Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 motherboard with current non-beta BIOS
- AMD FX-8320 3.5GHz(4GH
The same bug affects me. Thunderbird and Firefox crash so often that I can't
use them.
Ubuntu LTS 16.04.1
Firefox version 50.1.0
Thunderbird version 45.5.1
Crash reports attached.

Now using Firefox 49.0.2 and Thunderbird 1:45.4.0 in Ubuntu Mate 16.04.
Thunderbird does not crash at all any more. Firefox crashes at idle 2-3
times per month. This is a big improvement.

The bug still persist with Thunderbird 45.0.4 under Xubuntu Xenial. I
tried to restart with all add-on off, but it still crashes.
