Hi Christopher, I'll check if I'm able to update, it's a business notebook where I have limited access. I have to check what's possible there. What I tried is the latest stable mainline kernel 4.6.3 which improves the situation significantly. At least the NB doesn't crash any more putting it back

Me and a colleague also experience this exact behavior. It happens a lot more then 10 times a day here. There is a pattern with mouse movement (leaving screen) but it is not clearly reproducible. It seems like the display port signal is completely lost rather than the image itself turning black,
