also noting that the CTRL-t shortcut to open terminal can take up to 2
minutes to start a new terminal session, which I am experiencing as
well.

I'm not positive when an update was pushed out that caused this - my
machine gets updates automatically every night but I rarely reboot. I
rebooted yesterday and was immediately affected by it.
