On Cosmic, running on physical hardware, I ~did~ experience the issue
with the app grid using gnome-shell 3.30.1-2ubuntu1. So I do not think
Cosmic is immune to this issue.

However, I just tested the proposed gnome-shell version
3.30.1-2ubuntu1.18.10.1 in C
@Daniel, just FYI that per #18 and #19, I can't reproduce the issue with
cosmic.

As per my tests, it appears in all the versions on a long tap, but not
quick one (as X in that case doesn't send two events).

per re-test #16, and #17, confirmed that
1. on bionic, with new gnome-shell, app grid properly appears after upgrade to
new version.
2. on cosmic, app grid works without the upgrade to new version. (test with the
cosmic cd as live image)
