I recently switched back to Ubuntu, only to find that Slack in a snap is
still crashing on Wayland! I previously reported what seems like a
related bug on snapcraft-- here's the link to the related bug with logs
and some details from experiences on Fedora28 and Arch.
I'm seeing what I believe to be the same issue with Visual Studio Code.
If I try to start it after logging in using Gnome on Wayland, I find
myself looking at a login screen. (If I login to Gnome on Xorg this does
not happen.)

revert to an X11 session in order to launch slack.

I just ran updates on my 18.04 machine today also and can confirm Slack
is working under Wayland
