Just installing hexchat would mean adding a "transitional" package in the hexchat source. One way to have a suggestion about hexchat would be having command-not- found handle it. To get an idea of how that works, if you uninstall hexchat and run hexchat in a terminal, you'll get this output on

xchat-gnome also never actually supported a gtk3 release. This package was a git snapshot of the mid-transition to gtk3. It was half finished and very broken. This package has multiple thousand line patches to try and just get it working. The project is very dead, this is an Ubuntu fork, it makes

FYI, I am against this removal. xchat-gnome is the only gtk3 irc client in Ubuntu, which is natively compatible with Wayland going forward. hexchat is a gtk2 application which should probably get removed seeing as how we are trying to deprecate the gtk2.0 package. -- You received this bug
