On Sway/i3 i do not have such problems. Or maybe they occurs but whole display
server does not stops responding.

3. Reproduce a freeze, reboot and then run:
journalctl -b-1 > prevboot.txt

To really get to the bottom of this we would need to reproduce the
freeze in a development environment.
In the meantime, I have one proposed fix that I think will help to avoid
some Gnome Shell Xorg session freezes:
